Zachary Levi Complained About Being Ostracized By Hollywood. Now, He’s Turning to Jesus Movies.
Zachary Levi, who claims he’s been shunned by Hollywood, has turned to hosting a religious series for career salvation. But will audiences accept his penance?
“It’s been a very heavy journey, I’m not going to lie,” Levi said on the Megyn Kelly Show regarding Hollywood “gray-listing.” The actor was vocal in his support for President Donald Trump, as well as other controversial policies. Levi confirmed that he’s still struggling with landing film projects.
David: King of Israel, Levi’s latest project, will be making its debut on FOX Nation this week. “David, to me, has one of the most powerful stories in the Bible, in part because he was so human and relatable,” the actor mentioned in an interview with The Bottom Line. He added, “He’s described as a man after God’s own heart, who still goes on to do some really despicable things.”
Levi admired David’s story because even if the biblical character had sinned, he still received the forgiveness of God.
Is Levi grifting Christians?
Is Levi hoping for industry redemption, too? It doesn’t seem to be the case. The actor moved to Austin and went on a therapeutic and spiritual path in Austin, Texas. He still wants to make films, but he still has an ideological rift with the industry at large. As a result of the disagreement, Levi established his own 100-acre studio in Texas—which is essentially a declaration that he’ll be going on an alternative path.
The actor had an idea to adapt David’s story as early as 2024. Levi mentioned in a sit-down with David Jenko that if he could, he would adapt David’s story for the same reasons.
Calling this a ‘grift’ wouldn’t be appropriate—Levi is simply breaking away from the mainstream. Perhaps it’s best that he sticks to more biblically themed shows, especially if it makes him feel less victimized by Hollywood.
After all, didn’t he once say that supporting Trump mattered more than his career?
