Leaked recording of Trump and Macron shows Trump cared less about Ukraine and Russia and more about Nobel Prize bragging rights

A leaked video currently circulating on social media, including platforms like X (formerly Twitter), offers viewers a glimpse into the extreme narcissism harboured by Donald Trump, if they weren’t already aware of it.
A clip featuring the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, talking to Donald Trump over the phone, possibly in May 2025, and informing him that the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, had agreed to a ceasefire deal with Russia for 30 days, is breaking the internet. As previously mentioned, it is primarily due to Trump’s extreme egotistical behaviour that is displayed in it that has got people intrigued.
In the recording, after Macron informs Trump about Ukraine and Russia agreeing to a 30-day ceasefire deal, the first thing he talks about is potentially winning a Nobel Prize for bringing “peace” between the two countries. What he exactly said in this context was, “Ohhh good! Nobel Prize for this.” Can you believe it? Anyway, as the video progresses, we see Emmanuel Macron calling Donald Trump again while sitting beside Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and Friedrich Merz, the Chancellor of Germany. Macron informs Trump that the individuals present with him have had a fruitful discussion over Trump’s proposal about Russia and Ukraine having an “unconditional” 30 day ceasfire deal, and that each one of them backed it. Adding to Macron’s words, Zelenskyy mentioned that while he agreed with Trump’s proposal, it was also important that Russia respects the said proposal and that they should face consequences if they didn’t. He said:
“And, of course, we need big pressure, I think on Russia, if they don’t support, if they don’t want to support ceasefire, we need sanctions on them, put sanctions on them. I think it can work, what do you think Mr President?”
To this, Trump attempted to comfort Zelenskyy by saying that Russia would agree to the ceasefire deal, as he had good talks with them.
Just to put things into perspective, the 30-day ceasefire deal proposed by Trump between Russia and Ukraine back in 2025 did not fall through because Russia had ultimately rejected it. So maybe Trump did not have that good a talk with Vladimir Putin as he claimed he had. Or maybe he was just making up stuff and saying things because that is what he mostly does. He’s unfortunately continued this practice to date, and it’s already the next year. If this is him in one year, I can’t imagine what his next three years will be like.
