Dubai chocolate at Dollar Tree? The internet immediately said, “Be serious.” A Dollar Tree employee went viral after showing how shoppers could score Dubai chocolate for cheap. However, viewers are highly skeptical. Between the side-eye over the price, the skepticism about the taste, and one commenter dubbing it “goodbye chocolate,” TikTok is split on whether this is a sweet deal or a sugar-coated scam.

What is Dubai Chocolate?

If you’ve missed the memo, worry not. With so many new trends popping up each day, it’s hard to keep track. The internet’s obsession over Dubai chocolate, however, has lasted months. The BBC launched an article in April 2025 marking the origin of the craze and how big it blew up.

It “combines the flavours of chocolate, pistachio and tahini with filo pastry, and is inspired by the Arab dessert Knafeh.” And how did it start? Apparently, with one woman’s pregnancy cravings. The article shares the couple’s initial idea and how it somersaulted into the mania it is today. From just a simple idea, it has now become their business.

Yezen Alani, who co-owns the business with his wife, Sarah Hamouda, sells the chocolate bar “Can’t Knafeh of It” only in the UAE. Therefore, once the trend caught wind, people and businesses started imitating the style.

Cafes, grocery stores, and even restaurants have put out renditions of the chocolate. Some include it in waffles, pancakes, and even ice cream. The Mary Sue covered a story where a woman ordered the Dubai Chocolate brownie from Crumbl. Unfortunately, it was quite the letdown.

Other similar instances also exist. By trying to keep up with the trend, there has been a mass production of this type of chocolate. The BBC even shares that “some supermarkets [are] limiting the number of bars customers are allowed to buy.” Now it makes a little more sense why Dollar Tree having them is so surprising. Even more, it explains why some viewers are scared to risk it and try.

Dubai Chocolate at Dollar Tree?

Carri, who goes by @carrihelton on TikTok, has a video that attracted 1.8 million views and almost 500 comments. She says, “Y’all are not gonna believe this. We were stocking our Christmas candy and I opened up a box and at your local Dollar Tree, we are selling the actual Dubai chocolate.”

Carri zooms in on the box of chocolate bars that have the brand ‘Dubaco’ and underneath shows ‘Dubai style chocolate.’ Carri ends the clip by saying, “Run to your local Dollar Tree and get some Dubai chocolate.”

The Viewers are…Not Taking It Seriously

Considering the mass production of what is an imitation of the original and also the fact that the regular price is $15, viewers are more than wary. Some, like the TikToker from the Crumbl story, have been scorned once before. Therefore, they aren’t that willing to try it from a Dollar Tree of all places. Worse if the price is still the same.

One viewer says, “Is a dollar tho? Or like 10.99?” While a second says, “I bet it’s not 1.25.”

Others simply challenge its authenticity. One viewer states, “I don’t think it’s ‘actual’ Dubai chocolate.” Another one chimes in with, “That ain’t Dubai Chocolate, that’s Don’t buy chocolate!”

One viewer tackles the legality. “Something tells me that it saying ‘Dubai style’ is some legal way of saying it’s not actually Dubai chocolate.”
