‘A narcissist’: Donald Trump gets asked about attending a funeral and pulls a 180 to talk about his vote numbers
Donald Trump is once again demonstrating that he operates not from compassion but from extreme narcissism. You would think someone who so deeply condemned the National Guard members’ shootings in Washington, DC, which resulted in one death and left another critically injured, would show some compassion for the deceased, but that is far from the case.
During a recent interaction with a member of the press, United States President Donald Trump stated that if he were to attend the funeral of Sarah Beckstrom (the National Guard member who lost her life in the shooting), it would be because he performed well in West Virginia during the last elections.
Here is how the interaction played out: The interviewer asked Trump if he would attend Sarah’s funeral. After initially acting confused and saying he hadn’t thought about it, Trump later said he might attend because he won West Virginia by “one of the biggest margins” of “any president anywhere.” He also called West Virginia’s people “great” and claimed he loved them just as he does the American people.
Trump’s comments about Sarah Beckstrom have sparked significant criticism on social media, where many are unhappy with how he talked about her. One person on X (formerly Twitter) commented:
“He has dementia. A narcissist with dementia is a Very Bad Thing, especially if he’s POTUS.”
Another person on the same platform wrote:
“This shows he is in full blown dementia. My dad has dementia and in the beginning he was half-lining in the real world and half living in delusion. He had no filter, and was angry at anyone calling him out. With Trump he can’t remember he’s supposed to fake his “connection” to humanity because it doesn’t come naturally. It’s like he forgot he was talking about a funeral for a soldier he is commander of. Or he’s just as sick a narcissist as he’s ever been and can’t help but make it about himself.”
Several others shared similar feelings of disgust toward Trump and his comments. Donald Trump doesn’t miss a chance to brag about himself. Honestly, it would be more surprising if he didn’t seize this opportunity to talk about himself.
