‘Led by a 34-time convicted felon’: JB Pritzker calls out JD Vance’s ’lies’ as he accuses him of mishandling Chicago crimes

Trump and his tactics have become all too familiar when it comes to deploying troops in US cities and states he wishes to take control of. He often spins narratives of rampant crime in these Democratic-run states to justify the use of outside forces to restore order. Recently, he has done this in Illinois and Oregon.

Time and again, Donald Trump has attempted to conduct ICE raids in Democratic-led areas to crack down on the immigrant population. He claims that the party is sheltering and protecting “illegal aliens” who benefit from government programs meant for US citizens, including healthcare, in exchange for forming a large voter base for the Democrats.

Despite opposition from these Democrat-led cities and states, Trump has threatened to take action and has sometimes bypassed court orders to deploy troops, describing the area as a “war” zone. Fortunately, the representatives of these regions have strongly resisted Trump’s efforts.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, on more than one occasion, has stood his ground against the President and publicly called out his whataboutery. However, his outspoken stance has been met with strong words from Trump, the Republicans, and others. They have taken turns criticising him, blaming him for Illinois’s alleged high crime rates, and claiming he is blocking help needed to manage the situation. Recently, the President, JD Vance, also took a dig at Pritzker.

During an ABC News interview, when asked about Trump’s comments about Pritzker facing jail time, Vance said he believed Pritzker should “suffer some consequences” because he had “failed to do his job.” He stated:

“Well, I think that Governor Pritzker has allowed a lot of people to be killed in the city of Chicago and elsewhere, George. I think that it’s disgraceful, and I think that he absolutely should suffer some consequences for the fact that there are thousands of innocent Chicagoans who are dead because he failed to do his job.”

Additionally, Vance accused Pritzker of “violating his fundamental oath of office,” implying he should face legal action for the same. Pritzker responded sharply, giving Vance a stern reply for his accusations. Soon after Vance’s comments, Pritzker appeared on ABC News and accused Trump and his administration of “making things up to go after people.”

He continued to tear Trump and his MAGA allies apart by saying:

“You know, there’s a reason why the judge here in federal court said that the administration lacks credibility and why even the Nobel Prize committee chair said that the administration lacks integrity. This administration, led by a 34-time convicted felon, is threatening to jail people that are their political opponents.”
