Harcourt going in on Chris ruled on ‘Peacemaker’

Season 2 of Peacemaker has had a lot of moments where I thought to myself “oh this is going to end up going left.” While we are still in the limbo of knowing whether or not the other universe is really that GOOD, one thing happened in season 2 that was amazing to watch: Jennifer Holland taking down John Cena.

On the show, Chris’ original universe is a little chaotic. Emilia Harcourt (Holland) is furious with her life, being blackballed thanks to Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) and she finally turns to Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), to find purpose again. Which means when he forces her to take down Chris, she does it. And does it beautifully.

When Chris shows up to a set up, Harcourt decides to act fast. Which means beating Chris to a pulp. Now, violence isn’t the answer. However, seeing a tiny woman take on Cena ruled and I loved watching Harcourt’s anger kind of grow and chance throughout this season. She’s someone who is in pain, doesn’t know how to cope, and uses violence to allow herself a moment of peace. Which, unfortunately for Chris, meant that he was her latest victim.

Harcourt is, rightfully, worried when Chris actually shows up for the plan that Rick had to get him. She knows what that means and she knows she can’t hold back. But what really she was doing it to protect him and knowing that Chris wouldn’t actually fight her back, she could give it all she has to really sell her position with A.R.G.U.S. while also keeping Chris safe from them. But after what Chris has been doing to her (in another universe), it was kind of great to see her just go to town on Chris Smith.

After what Chris was pulling in the other universe…

In this “perfect” world, Chris discovers that that universe’s Chris used to date Emilia Harcourt. Once he kills him and assumes his life, Chris begins trying to rekindle a romance with Harcourt because his own one night stand with her has plagued him ever since. Instead of having an honest conversation with his Emilia and forcing her to do the same, he leans hard into the idea of a relationship with that universe’s version of her. Which is messed up.

Right now, it is Chris’ secret but I also think that the minute Harcourt finds out what he’s doing, it is game over for whatever maybe relationship they had. Or maybe she’ll find it sweet in some warped way that his feelings are that deep for her. Either way, Chris’ need to date a woman spanning different universes is bound to come out and I don’t think it is going to be a good thing.

Would it be a good thing to YOU if someone you sort of liked showed up and said he was falling in love with another universe’s version of you? Still, getting to see Jennifer Holland take on John Cena and win makes all the pain that is heading Harcourt and Chris Smith’s way kind of worth it. Right?
