The Wall Street Journal is Reporting the iPhone 5 Will Be Coming to Sprint Mid-October

Earlier today, we reported that there is evidence floating around to suggest that the iPhone 5 might come in a dual CDMA and GSM model. Now, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Sprint will get the iPhone 5 sometime in the middle of October. While Sprint customers who really love their network and haven’t yet jumped ship to grab Apple’s money-printing phone are no doubt excited to hear that they’ll be able to join in on the pretty smartphone party, the news non-Sprint customers should take from this report is that if the Sprint launch lines up with the AT&T and Verizon launches, that means the iPhone 5 is slated for a mid-October launch.

If Sprint does get the iPhone 5, even if it gets it a little later than their competition, it’ll be a huge win for Sprint, as they’ve been lagging behind the iPhone market for quite some time, and as the Wall Street Journal points out, Sprint actually cited a lack of being able to sell the iPhone as causing a decline in its contract subscribers.

As usual, take this kind of news with a grain of salt, but The Wall Street Journal has been right in the past regarding iPhone-related rumors, and the news of a Sprint release, as well as a somewhat solid timeframe for the carrier-wide release, should satiate our Appletites for now. Yes, I just wrote that word.
