‘American Horror Story’ Debuts a Tempting Trailer for ‘Delicate’

American Horror Story is a very long-running horror anthology series that has isolated themes for each season. Fans were eager to learn what would be next after the Cruising-inspired 11th season, American Horror Story: NYC. Lo and behold, American Horror Story: Delicate was announced, along with the controversial casting of Kim Kardashian in a major role. Kim K. is entering the American Horror Story fold and Ryan Murphy isn’t showrunner for this season. We have entered a new timeline, I swear.

FX has unveiled the first trailer for the new season, which also stars Emma Roberts and Cara Delevingne and features a plot reminiscent of Rosemary’s Baby.

American Horror Story is back, and the vibes are different. There is a creepy tone that clearly won’t let up as the season progresses. Emma Roberts is the main character, an actress named Anna who really wants to have a child. There are unsettling events involving Anna at a clinic, imagery of goats, bloody dresses, and Anna being desperate to figure out what’s happening to her. If the trailer tells us anything, this season will focus heavily on the pressures of Hollywood, gaslighting, and losing control of your body.

What’s it about?

In a first for AHS, this season is based on a book: Danielle Valentine’s Delicate Condition. The story follows a woman named Anna Alcott (Emma Roberts) who becomes paranoid that evil forces are preventing her from having a child. Considering this is American Horror Story, Anna’s claims will likely be proven real and we’ll learn that something incredibly sinister is at play as she descends into chaos. The season will no doubt explore themes related to believing women, bodily autonomy, and fame.

Who is in American Horror Story: Delicate?

This season stars Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), Matt Czuchry (Gilmore Girls), Kim Kardashian, and Cara Delevingne (Carnival Row). They’re joined by newbies Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (A Black Lady Sketch Show), Annabelle Dexter-Jones (Succession), and American Horror Story veterans Denis O’Hare (True Blood) and Zachary Quinto (Star Trek).

Does American Horror Story: Delicate have a release date?

American Horror Story: Delicate will premiere on September 30 on FX and will drop the episode the next day on Hulu. The season will release in two parts because of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
