Heat Gun Made From Two Aerosol Cans, Found Parts

Hack A Day reader MrGatz85 needed a soldering tool, but didn’t want to spend the money on one, so he did what any true geek would do: Built his own out of scrounged parts. MrGatz85 wasn’t too happy with the ideas and suggestions floating around the Internet regarding do-it-yourself heat guns due to the fact that cheap ceramic element generally used are not only cheap in price, but in quality. He ended up finding an old vaporizer that he happened to have, took it apart and found that the element was a decent size and, importantly, self-contained. He then made a case out of two aerosol cans, high-temperature foam and deadbolt parts, and the result was a functional, fairly cheap, DIY heat gun. The gun reportedly still gets a little hot to the touch, but hey, a little heat is probably better than going broke.
