Benedict Cumberbatch is well-known for playing aloof, emotionally constipated men. He upholds the facade well—from playing Sherlock Holmes to Phil Burbank in The Power of the Dog to his return as Marvel’s Doctor Strange—people may think that is just Cumberbatch’s personality. However, that image crumbled away when he looked at the new Doctor Strange Funko Pop figure with hearts in his eyes during a recent press event.
And Twitter is as in love as Cumberbatch seems to be.
Cumberbatch and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness co-star Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch) were asked to guess which character a Funko Pop was supposed to be by a feel test. When Cumberbatch opened his eyes, the look on his face made him as endearing as ever. He even said that the figure was really cute.
This week threw a lot of garbage fire news on us, but Cumberbatch brought something pure and adorable for us to focus on. It is a soothing balm that can help us heal.
Who can blame him? Funko Pops have wormed their way into the hearts of most pop culture fanatics. I tried to resist them, only to have them slowly take over every inch of free space in my house. Looking into those shiny black eyes just melts my soul like nothing else can.
Funko’s new line of pop figures for Doctor Strange 2 includes several variants of Doctor Strange himself, Wong, America Chavez, Master Mordo, Christine Palmer, Rintrah, Sara, and (of course) Scarlet Witch.
