Here’s How to Watch SFWA’s 2022 Nebula Awards

The 57th Annual Nebula Awards are coming! This year’s awards, which recognize excellence in science fiction and fantasy published in 2021, will be streamed online on Saturday, May 21, 2022 as part of the 2022 Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) Nebula Conference, which will occur both in person and online on May 20-22. Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the awards.

SFWA serves to “promote, advance, and support science fiction and fantasy writing in the United States and elsewhere, by educating and informing the general public and supporting and empowering science fiction and fantasy writers.” The organization has been holding the Nebula Awards since 1965, when Damon Knight published the Nebula Awards anthology. The awards recognize outstanding novels, novellas, novelettes, short stories, middle grade and YA fiction, dramatic presentation (i.e., movies and TV shows), and game writing.

In order to be considered for a Nebula Award, authors and creators must be nominated by a SFWA member. Once all nominations are in, SFWA members then vote for the winners. In addition to the nominees, this year’s awards will include the Kevin O’Donnell, Jr. Service to SFWA Award, which will be awarded to Colin Coyle. Author Mercedes Lackey will be named the 38th Damon Knight Grand Master.

How to Stream the 2022 Nebulas

To watch the 2022 Nebulas, you’ll need to register for the SFWA Nebula Conference. Although the registration page isn’t live yet, last year’s conference cost $125 USD, so this year’s price will likely be similar. In addition to access to the Nebula Awards through SFWA’s streaming platform, Airship Nebula, registrants will also be able to attend the rest of the conference’s panels and events.

We’ll update this page with more info as it comes!
