It’s no secret that we here at The Mary Sue loves Netflix’s One Day at at Time. And what’s not to love? The show features a talented, charismatic cast and plays an important role in Latinx representation. ODAAT is unafraid to tackle serious issues, ranging from immigration, sexuality, addiction, PTSD and veterans issues. And did I mention it’s funny? The series is brimming with warmth and authenticity, winning over audiences everywhere.

Yet despite stellar critical reviews (all three seasons have near perfect Rotten Tomatoes scores), the show remains on the cancellation bubble. Showrunner Gloria Calderón Kellett recently tweeted out her concern over the series’ future:

Stars of the show and celeb fans quickly took to Twitter and #RenewODAAT started trending.

Both Calderón Kellett and series creator (and television legend) Norman Lear tweeted their thanks to the fans who got #RenewODAAT trending.

We’re rooting for ODAAT, because in addition to being a damn entertaining show, it’s a show with a real message: hope. It’s all about coming together, celebrating our differences, and loving one another. This is the kind of show we need more of. Do the right thing Netflix, or you’re going to have some angry fans on your hands.
