Jodie Foster, Wanda Sykes, Tig Notaro, and Other Celebrities Audition for Batgirl

Recommended Videos

In this clip from Conan, a series of celebrities ranging from a baby-carrying Kristen Schaal, to a confident Hilary Swank (“this is my audition right here [holds Oscar]”), to an upside down Maria Bamford audition for the role of Barbra Gordon, AKA Batgirl. We also get auditions from Tig Notaro, Nicole Byer (who is auditioning for…..a very different Batgirl movie), Thomas Middleditch (who does a fantastic “Kyle the waiter”), Jodie Foster, Nick Offerman, and Wanda Sykes.

Since the upcoming movie was announced, there’s been a ton of speculation what kind of Batgirl we’ll see on screen, as well as who will get the role (we had some fancasting ideas as well, if that’s something you’re into). So far, what we know is that Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson is writing the script, having taken over after Joss Whedon left the project. The video comes from #ConanCon, the series of events, interviews, and clips that Conan does every year at San Diego Comic Con. (Have you seen Chewbaccapella yet?) The host has even gotten his own Funkos.

Anyway, I think one of the biggest takeaways I’ve gotten from this clip is that we should really give Tig Notaro a deadpan superhero role? Also, that we should put Jodie Foster and everything. Which audition did you enjoy the most?
