Orange Is the New Black Meets Black Mirror in the Best “San Junipero” Mashup Sketch

Recommended Videos

You know me. I love a good mashup. Lately, though, Netflix has been killing it with their cross-promotional video content, and this mashup between Orange is the New Black and Black Mirror is no exception.

If you watched this latest season of Black Mirror (or if you’ve spent any time on the internet at all since then), then you’ll know that one of the standout episodes, “San Junipero,” told an excellent story about two women who meet in a very 80’s-themed alternate reality of sorts. Long story short, they fall in love, and it turns out they’re both elderly women, one of whom allows her consciousness to be uploaded to the San Junipero cloud, to be joined later by the other woman, who was on the fence about the whole “stay alive in this computer” thing.

Here, though, you’ve got Taystee meeting back up with Possey Washington, who (spoiler, though it’s been a year, seriously, I can’t help you if it’s been a year) died after she was assaulted by a prison guard. It’s a pretty sweet reunion, and while it doesn’t have the emotional punch that the Black Mirror episode had, it still has a lot of appeal as a cute one-off video.

It’s great to see these two together again, even if it is a short parody. Dance on, you two.
