It’s that wonderful time of the week again! Gather around and settle in for your friendly neighborhood open discussion for The CW’s The Flash. On the menu today, we’re discussing “Attack on Central City” which is the second part of Grodd’s multi-episode arc. Kind warning: if you haven’t watched last night’s episode, you might want to make like a Trump confronted with facts and run in the opposite direction. Spoilers ahead.
Last week, we learned that Grodd planned to open a breech to Earth-1 and invade as revenge for all the bad that’s happened to him. Now, faced with the reality that hundreds of angry gorillas are about to descend upon the city, Team Flash must figure out how to stop them. Barry, believing that Grodd will always be a threat, ponders killing him to end this once and for all.
His discussion with Harrison Wells about how murder kills a part of you and once you start, it only gets easier the next time was probably my favorite part of the episode. I loved how Barry tried to justify it with mentioning  Arrow but I’m gonna agree with Dr. Wells and say that’s not a great example. Look how well that turned out for him and Ben Affleck’s Batman. (Spoiler alert: They’re both dead inside.) It also made me realize how much I’ve missed Barry having this kind of mentor—not to slight HR or Joe West. They just have this special relationship because they’re so alike in many ways.
I’m happy to see that Barry and Iris have progressed in their relationship but it also makes me worried. Do you think she will be killed off after finally getting engaged? Judging from past CW superheroes, serious relationships don’t usually make it to that illustrious June wedding. And how do you feel about next week’s episode? Here’s the synopsis:
While training with Barry (Grant Gustin), Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) starts to have visions of Savitar, which he hides from the team. A dangerous secret threatens Barry and Iris’ (Candice Patton) happiness.
