200+ LGBTQIA Protesters Turned Up for a Dance Party Outside Mike Pence’s Home

See what I did there?

Around 200 protesters turned up (heh) outside of Mike Pence’s temporary Washington, D.C. home to throw a dance party, marking his final stay in said home before moving into the Vice President’s traditional housing at Number One Observatory Circle. The protesters rallied on behalf of LGBTQ rights, which Vice President-elect Pence has historically worked against throughout his political career.

According to the protest’s organizer Firas Nasr, they wanted to “send a clear message to Daddy Pence that we will not tolerate bigotry and hate in our country.” Nasr, who can be seen leading the march and utterly slaying onlookers with some truly wonderful dance moves in the video below, is also the founder of WERK For Peace, a “queer-based grassroots movement using all forms of dance to promote peace.” The movement was founded in response to the June 12th Pulse Nightclub massacre that occurred in Orlando, Florida.

With so many more marches and demonstrations planned for this weekend (and for the foreseeable future), it’s likely that this won’t be the last queer dance party for peace we’ll see. As someone who identifies as queer and is totally down with peace, you’ll probably be able to find me at more than a few.
