Upbeat New La La Land Trailer is No Wonder Woman But It Still Gets the Job Done

Recommended Videos

Are you fully recovered from the new Wonder Woman trailer? Do you need a moment? Is your faith in DC restored? Head here to air out those feelings and then click back because another trailer dropped today! La La Land released a new, livelier preview featuring even more singing and dancing than before. This latest video is a lovely break from the beautifully heartbreaking first trailer, in that we see lots more faces and get a clearer picture of how this movie will be executed. In other words, I’m pumped.

The story itself is pretty formulaic: Young couple trying to make it in Hollywood fall in love and then things fall apart as their careers begin to take off. But how can one resist those sweeping shots of LA, the vibrant colors and the whimsical reality that they’re presenting? Call me basic but I’m into it.

I will say I’m slightly disappointed that it looks to be another pretty, whitewashed Hollywood production where the few people of color are either background fixtures or John Legend educating Ryan Gosling on jazz music. Still, I’m interested to see how this film will turn out because 1) I am a musical theater nerd and this looks right up my alley 2) That stunning cinematography 3) John Legend.

What about you all? Are you excited to see it when it officially opens on December 2?
