All caught up on last night’s episode of The Flash? You know the drill: it’s time for a spoiler-stacked open thread full of deets on Barry Allen and pals.
Anyway, last night’s ep has gotten a lukewarm reception from fans so far, but feel free to disagree (or agree!) with that in the comments section here. One reason could be H.R.’s character: he’s “the new Harry,” but fans seem divided on him. It’s a very love-it-or-hate-it situation so far, with H.R.’s chirpy attitude adding a very different vibe to the team.
Meanwhile, Caitlin visited her mom, Dr. Carla Tannhauser, to investigate her newfound Frozen-esque powers. Much like the famous ice queen Elsa, Caitlin has trouble controlling her powers, and Dr. Tannhauser’s assistant becomes an inadvertent victim of that. Luckily, Carla bursts into the room mid-attack and manages to help Caitlin calm down, which thereby calms down her powers as well. The relationship between the two women seems quite chilly otherwise, by the way–not to make with an on-the-nose pun about Caitlin’s newfound powers.
The “Monster” title doesn’t just refer to Caitlin’s concerns that she might be a killer (Killer Frost, even), but also to the Godzilla-like creature rampaging in Central City. Turns out the monster is a hologram created by a genius teen boy who just wanted to feel powerful. This ties into the overall theme for our super-heroic characters, who must navigate the idea of wanting power, getting power, and potentially misusing said power.
