The Transformers animated movie came out back in 1986, which means it’s 30 years old, so there’s a good chance that many of you were too young to watch it at the time. I mean, I was. I was born in 1986, so I didn’t actually see the Transformers movie until I was older. By the way, it’s great, and it’s about to look even better than it ever did before thanks to an upcoming 30th Anniversary remaster of the original movie!
Specifically, the 30th Anniversary edition will feature an HD restoration of the original film, which is quite an involved project. In the brief video above, you can learn tons of details directly from FotoKem’s Principle Color Scientist Joseph Slomka, who describes the incredible amount of work that went into the project, which involved taking the 35mm print of the animated feature and transforming (heh) that print into a color-corrected, more detailed version of the movie.
The 30th Anniversary Blu-Ray version of the movie will be out on September 13, 2016. Admittedly, there’s already a Blu-Ray version of this movie that got released about ten years ago, but this remastered version sounds like it’ll be the thing to get!
Now, if you haven’t seen this movie, then you might be asking yourself, “why are there going to be multiple versions of this dang movie on Blu-Ray? Is it really that great?” Well, yes. Yes, it is. And if you don’t believe me, then just listen to that 1986 movie theme song. Guaranteed to make you rock out.
