Nickelodeon has been touting its Legends of the Hidden Temple film for a while now, and after a big showing at San Diego Comic-Con, they’ve released a trailer, allowing us a peek at the movie itself. It’s packed with plenty of references to the original game show, including (but not limited to) host Kirk Fogg (who has a role in this one), Olmec, those really creepy-as-hell Temple Guards, the pendants of life, all the trap rooms, and yes, of course, the Shrine of the Silver Gosh Darn It Why Can’t You Figure This Out Seriously Can You Just Not Monkey.
According to the trailer, the story goes a little something like this: the temple is actually a busted old theme park, and one of the three main characters is a kid who’s, like, all about this theme park, so much so that he apparently has a team green monkey t-shirt because how’s that for merchandising? Anyway, apparently Fogg plays (you guessed it) a host at one of the theme park’s shows, and he even comes swinging in on a rope like he did during Legends of the Hidden Temple. The kids stumble on the hidden temple itself and sneak in, which triggers some kind of mystical event that only they can stop. Sounds interesting enough, no?
We’ll be able to fully judge for ourselves when the movie comes to Nickelodeon this fall.
Listen, I know I bring this up every time I talk about Legends of the Hidden Temple, but we’ve all got memories of yelling at the TV as the kids in the temple totally borked up that Shrine of the Silver Monkey puzzle, right?
