Rob Liefeld’s Zombie Jesus is Official

Rob Liefeld is best known for the incredible feat of becoming a professional comic book writer and artist despite a known reputation for missing deadlines and being disproportionately egotistical, and an inability to draw the following things: feet, hands, women, muscles, and perspective.

What’s next on the docket for the comic book world’s greatest successful troll?  A comic about the zombie uprising that corresponded with the death of Jesus, according (sort of) to the Book of Matthew.

From the press release:

MATTHEW 27:51-52 “The earth shook, the rocks broke and tombs opened and many men and women who had died came back to life again. They left the cemetery and went into the city and appeared to many people there.”

THE UNTOLD TALE OF THE 48 HOURS FOLLOWING THE DEATH OF CHRIST!

Following the crucifixion of Christ, supernatural warfare tore apart the Roman Provinces. Zombie Hordes attacked Jerusalem in search of the corpse of Christ. The Disciples were under siege as the Undead tore apart the countryside and an unlikely hero, LAZARUS THE IMMORTAL emerged to combat the Legion of Dead!

Since the story is based on an actual passage from the Bible, this makes it ever so slightly better researched than, for example, Liefeld’s Godyssey #1, where after being taunted by the Greek gods, Jesus hops down off the cross and teaches them a lesson with his fists, despite Greek culture having in fact been overtaken by the Romans about one hundred and fifty years before.

Bleeding Cool has a three page preview, which features a Judas zombie cutting himself down off the tree, and a tiny horse with a head half the size of its torso.

We’re honestly not sure which bothers us more.
