BBC’s Sherlock Begins Production on Its Fourth Season

Recommended Videos

It always takes forever with Sherlock doesn’t it? Well, now fans of the hit BBC show can start getting excited! Sherlock has officially started production on Season Four! (Is it me, or does it feel like Sherlock’s already been on for eleventy-jillion seasons because of their production schedule?)

BBC One announced the beginning of production with the above fun little video in which show writer Mark Gatiss tells us that “The game is on!” According to Spinoff Online, BBC One says that the upcoming season of Sherlock will have “laughter, tears, shocks, surprises and extraordinary cases.” Well, I’d certainly hope so! Otherwise, what’s the point?

Sherlock himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, commented on the long wait for the upcoming three-episode season, saying that he’s “genuinely thrilled to be back filming Sherlock with all the cast and crew. I can’t wait for everyone to see Season 4. But you will have to wait … though not for long … And it will be worth it.”

In Season Four, Sherlock will be back in Britain, and John and Mary Watson will be dealing with an adventure bigger than anything they’ve faced with the World’s Greatest Detective…parenthood!

The season premiere will be directed by the awesome Rachel Talalay, whom we know as a director on Doctor Who, The Flash, and freaking Tank GirlThis makes her the first female director Sherlock has ever had! No premiere date has been announced yet, but as usual, the season will air on BBC One in the UK and on PBS here in the States.
