Neil deGrasse Tyson Responds to Star Wars Fans, Says They’re “Prickly”

Recommended Videos

Neil deGrasse Tyson had a few words about how Star Wars fans reacted to his series of tweets where he analyzed The Force Awakens from a scientific standpoint. Apparently folks were, uh… none too pleased about the things he had to say about the blockbuster destroying sequel, especially taking exception to what he had to say about the world’s newest droid baby, BB-8.

Tyson shared his thoughts on Conan, who himself isn’t afraid of making fun of nerds every once in a while. You can check out the full video above, but the highlight is his recap of how everyone reacted when he tweeted that BB-8 probably wouldn’t be able to roll around on Jakku like you see them do on the big screen.

For your reference, we’ve included a few choice replies below.

Hell, even the Star Wars Twitter account got involved.

Okay, yeah, maybe Tyson has a point. Star Wars fans are really “prickly.” Though to be fair, what nerdy fans aren’t? Have you ever seen a “lively debate” about who the superior Star Trek captain is? Or a “discussion” about Dalek physiology? I mean, come on.
