Disney Is Committed to Indiana Jones 5. That Makes One of Us.

Why did it have to be sequels?

Current Disney success formula: take beloved movie franchise with Harrison Ford, make another one.

Hey, it worked pretty well for The Force Awakens. Everyone seemed to love Ford’s comeback as Han Solo, so why not go for another Indiana Jones? After all, we already know he’s up for it, so why the heck not? Well, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger put it a little more eloquently than that when speaking to Bloomberg, saying,

It starts with great storytelling. That’s the heart of the company, going all the way back to 1923 when it was founded by Walt Disney and his brother Roy. It’s all about storytelling. That’s what creates the most value. We had in Pixar, some of the greatest storytellers that existed in motion pictures, certainly the best in animation. We had in Marvel, stories and characters, great storytelling, and obviously in George Lucas’ Star Wars, and Indiana Jones, by the way, as well, which will be coming, we have more great stories.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy had already confirmed as much a little more abstractly, but we’re not too surprised to hear Iger assuring us it’s on the way after the success of Star Wars. So, did you like Crystal Skull and want more? Did you hate it and hold out hope that the next installment would be better? Are you as afraid of this movie as Indy is of snakes?
