Hulu Releases Daniel Errico’s Second LGBTQIA Animated Fairy Tale Rosaline

Recommended Videos

Earlier this year, we saw Daniel Errico’s adorable animated short The Bravest Knight Who Ever Lived, a fairy tale illustrated by Mo Qovaizi about Cedric, the pumpkin knight who rescues a pair of royal siblings and proposes to the prince. A lot of comments were positive, but some of us couldn’t help but feel a bit sad for the princess. Wasn’t there a kind suitor out there for her?

Well, little did I know Errico was actually already working on a new fairy tale about a lesbian heroine that came out on Hulu today! It’s called Rosaline, adorably illustrated by Michael Scanlon, animated by Ida M. Schouw Andreasen (who also did The Bravest Knight Who Ever Lived), and voiced by Teri Polo (West Wing, Meet the Parents). The story follows Rosaline, a protagonist “whose story was never told” in her unconventional encounters with a lot of classic fairy tale figures including a wolf, a witch, and a godmother. If you’re interested, there’s also a Kindle ebook available! I really enjoyed Cedric’s story and it’s awesome to see Errico continue his work in “[giving] children a fairytale ending that exists in the world around them, but is not shown to them.”

I found the interaction with the well-intentioned fairy godmother insistent on finding her a prince especially funny. What did you think about Rosaline?
