A woman finds the perfect wedding dress and can’t wait for it to be delivered to her home. She expects to sign for the dress, so she’s surprised when she gets home to see the box on her front porch.

In a video with over 317,000 views, TikToker Ratchet & Clank (@rattynclank) shows a large white box next to her front door. However, she was disappointed about how the package carrier completed the delivery.

On-screen text reads, “POV: my 10 thousand dollar wedding dress that the postie decided to leave on my front step.” The caption continues, “Signature required who??????”

What happened when she unboxed the wedding dress?

In a follow-up video, the TikToker brings the package inside and takes the wedding dress out. She curses when she sees what’s inside, bleeping out her reaction. Then, she screams and covers her mouth in disbelief.

However, she doesn’t show viewers what’s inside, as she doesn’t want to spoil her wedding day look for guests who follow her.

“POV: unboxing the wedding dress you ordered 9 months ago to figure out it’s all wrong,” she writes in on-screen text.

She shares in the comments that she plans to post an update revealing what went wrong after her wedding.

Why did the carrier deliver without a signature?

Senders of mail can request that a mail carrier get a signature upon delivery to make sure the package is delivered to a real person at the address. However, some customers report that carriers delivered their packages without the required signature. This can lead to major issues for the customer and carrier if the package goes missing.

“They dropped two cases of wine outside my door yesterday. By law it requires a signature. Not the first time,” one commenter in the r/UPS subreddit says.

One FedEx customer says they had to report a driver for signing for packages himself. They write, “We had a FedEx driver signing for us and leaving our prescription medicine at other residences. We filed a complaint with FedEx. And lo and behold a manager is out the next day to ask what happened.”

Commenters debate who’s in the wrong

However, some commenters on the viral TikTok point out that the wedding dress sender may not have requested a signature from the carrier.

“Umm .. how dare they properly deliver a package. Not for nothing, blame the company for not requiring a signature upon delivery,” one remarks.

Another comments, “Unless the company put signature required, they’re going to leave it at your door.”

“It’s up to you or the company to organise signature on delivery. if that wasn’t organised then it gets left there,” a third suggests.

Others come to the TikToker’s defense, saying they would also be frustrated if an expensive package wasn’t delivered securely.

“I had 80k worth of lenses, and a 95k engagement ring left at the front door, different times. Was brutal,” a viewer shares.

A second writes, “A package worth that much requires a signature at the time of delivery. If no one is present, they must hold it or drop it off at a location/post office. This package was not delivered correctly.”
