It’s Never Too Late For Awesome Harry Potter Covers

[View All on One Page]

No offense to Mary GrandPre, but these Swedish Harry Potter covers by Alvaro Tapia are just stunning. Though I could see myself as a kid being turned off by his Order the Phoenix illustration. Jesus Christ on a cracker, those Thestrals are scary.

And OK, sure, these covers aren’t exactly new. But there is no new Harry Potter stuff, so we work with what we have. You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the facts of life.

I love the ones for the 4th, 5th and 7th book (although my all-time favourite Harry Potter cover is the french one for the 7th book : http://www.renaud-bray.com/ImagesEditeurs/PG/868/868408-gf.jpg )

That Deathly Hallows one is the best, I would take that as a poster on my wall any day.

Oooh! And I managed to find the artist’s site for prints, though it’s in Swedish so… http://www.seriegalleriet.se/main.php?artist=Tapia,%20Alvaro%20-%20Harry%20Potter%20-%20Tryck

These are specifically Swedish!? I never realised, I just loved them to death. Yay!

We were quite lucky with the covers yes. I have always loved the Swedish covers… though I read the books in English (because I didn’t much like the translation) so all my books have the “adult” British Harry Potter covers (they were cheap).

I also saw all of these as originals at an exhibition in Stockholm a few years ago… they are tiny. No bigger than an A4 paper.

Mmm! Loving the rough, loose textures and colors. I can practically smell the paint from my screen.

    1. yes, it is.

    2. the one on the front page of the site (thursday night version)? isn’t that from the black-light poster I bought ON 8th street between 6th and 5th in 1969?

    what an awesome idea!

Just admire Buckbeak’s expression in the 3rd cover. That is pure sass right there.
