There’s a New Show About the Salem Witch Trials. Here’s Its Trailer. [VIDEO]

Earlier this week we told you that Jenji Kohan, the creator of Orange Is the New Black, is doing a show about the Salem witch trials for HBO. Salem is not that show. Instead it’s a completely different Salem witch trials show developed by the network WGN America, which airs… somewhere. I’ve actually never heard of it. It stars Janet Montgomery (Merlin, Black Swan) as historical figure Mary Sibley and airs sometime in 2014. What do you think?

WGN America is the national cable/satellite version of WGN, a really old Chicago station that’s now a CW affiliate. They seem to air mostly local Chicago stuff like news and sports, along with a lot of syndicated TV. According to that linked Deadline article this is their first original series, so I guess they’re getting in that game as well.

IIRC, I don’t think burning happened in Salem? I could be wrong.

They never burned witches in Salem… They were hung (or crushed with stones in the case of one man) but never burned… Not in America anyway. What a depressingly simple fact to get wrong.

I was watching this like hey! They actually did their research and found that in fact no witches were actually burned, they were all hung….ohp nope there is the ending. I will check at least a couple eps out though
