Pacific Rim 2 and Godzilla 2 Both Have Shiny New Official Titles

Recommended Videos

No need to keep saying Pacific Rim 2 and Godzilla 2 anymore, because these two mega-monster franchises have officially bestowed titles upon their sequels. Of course, you’re still free to call them Pacific Rim 2 and Godzilla 2 anyway, because that’s less confusing… but even so.

John Boyega already jumped the gun a month ago by posting an Instagram photo that made fans believe the movie would be titled Pacific Rim: Maelstrom. False alarm, folks! Admittedly, that was the original title for the movie–but it’s not the final title.

According to /Film, the final title for Pacific Rim 2 is Pacific Rim: Uprising. It’s too bad Pacific Rim won’t be using the word “maelstrom,” since it’s such a cool word, but maybe they’ll use it for some other future project.

On to the title of Godzilla 2, which is: Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Sounds triumphant! It’s also a title that has been used before in the past, when the original Japanese Godzilla got re-released to American audiences.
