Mads Mikkelsen Plays Jyn Erso’s Father in Rogue One, Adding “Attractive Space Dad” to His Resume

On Sky News today, Mads Mikkelsen let slip a little bit of info about his role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which up until now, had been completely shrouded in mystery. According to an on-air interview, he’ll be playing Jyn Erso’s father. The information came as the result of a bit of coaxing on the part of the reporter, who asked him to reveal “just a little bit” of information. “How did you feel when you were approached?” she asked. “I wasn’t sure if I was wearing a stormtrooper outfit or anything at that point,” Mikkelsen replied, referring to the fact that plenty of famous movie stars have made guest appearances and cameos from under some stormtrooper armor (Daniel Craig, for one).

Mikkelsen continued, saying, “I read the script, and it was very beautiful, and there’s this lovely, young, strong woman, and I play her… father.” The reporter gasped, and Mikkelsen whispered, “That was too much, I’m sorry.”

Of course, I’m pretty darn sure Mikkelsen knew exactly what he was doing when he let slip that little tease of info. That aside, now that we know Mikkelsen plays Jyn’s father, what does that mean for his role overall? There’s no way of telling, really, since this is literally all we know so far. But take solace in the fact that Mikkelsen will be Jyn’s Attractive Space Dad, of which there seem to be no shortage in the Star Wars universe (looking at you, Solo, you silver fox).
