Hey! It’s another tiny Vader commercial! *GASP* And there are tiny Jedi! And droids! And walking carpets. Oooh, and they’re all going to fight Vader and he’s… going to activate the Death Star… and kill everyone. Because he represents anti-environmentalism. Because he is the bad guy. And we should take care of our planet. And planet carers join the Rebels… *sigh*

Greenpeace: lures you in with adorable Star Wars kids, and then makes you feel feelings.

    Remember the SNL skit where the guy says his girlfriend is evil and Hitler, Vader, and the devil parade around him?

    Vader is kind of a fantasy Hitler. He genocides Alderaanians and leads a big evil empire. The Empire’s colors are red, white, and black, and the flag is based on the Nazi flag.

    I think Lucas clearly had WWII on his mind. Last big war we had, and the good guys won. (Though of course the Soviets killed a few million people too, so maybe it’s more accurate to say the bad guys lost…)

    But Vader is funny, because it’s only a movie. Actually comparing people to Hitler tends to get people upset.

    I did not see that skit, but wish I did. Thanks! And yes, you’re dead on with Hitler being (some of) the inspiration behind Vador. Look up Triumph des Willens (Triumph of the Will), all the imagery starts there.

    But the fallacy is still present, whether it’s with Hitler or Vador. Not a reason to pollute or anything, just sayin’.

    Doesn’t VW make clean diesel cars?? Diesel cars you can turn into dirty vegetable-burning cars?? I find Greenpeace is kinda like PETA, they blow shit up. I used to fundraise for them..
