So she’s turning beautiful editions of books into dumb purses? Hm.

    :(

The only thing that makes me feel somewhat less negative about this is that most of the books are the cheapie Barnes and Noble classics editions that one frequently sees on ubersale.

I’m all for craftiness and they’re cute, but.

Erm, shouldn’t that be “if” and not “when”? Someone will have invented microchips that directly beam information into my head before I give up real books. And even if by some turn of events I were to come into possession of an ereader (pay for one? Hell no), I’m not going to look at my shelves and start wondering how I can re-purpose all those “pesky” first edition hardcovers. Oh hey, that signed copy of Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson? YEAH. That’d make a GREAT purse.

The concept of upcycling a book into a purse is just so BACKWARD.

i dont have a problem with repurposing a few copies of mass produced books that are still readily available. rare manuscripts are a whole other matter, though.
