Zachary Levi really wants MAGA friends in Hollywood

The career trajectory of Zachary Levi has been a truly fascinating one to watch. Once poised on the cusp of being a steadfast Hollywood staple, he has since stepped so far back that that cusp is just a memory. When I was at SXSW this year I was in the same room as him, and absolutely nobody went up to him. Though, I suppose that’s what happens when you talk about vaccine skepticism on the heels of a global pandemic, among other things.

Recently, Levi appeared on the Joe Rogan Podcast, where he talked about how, according to him, 25% of A-listers are secretly Trump supporters.

In a clip posted on X, Levi says, “I would say probably 25% of A-listers probably voted for Trump. It’s a lot. Producers and everybody else, they did it holding their nose. And a lot of them did it because of Bobby, to be honest.”

Given that being an “A-lister” is a somewhat prestigious title, 25% seems fairly generous. More than likely, Levi has done what every other MAGA diehard has done and surrounded himself with an echo chamber of likemindedness, inflating that percentage in his mind.

Somebody needs to fill the mediocrity quota

One X user also made a great point: “Zachary Levi’s been given every chance to succeed in Hollywood but nothing he’s done clicked w/ audiences. Instead of accepting his profound mediocrity, he shoulders up to the alt-right, crying about how bad his career suffers b/c of his politics. He’s his generations Scott Baio.”

There really is nothing wrong with Levi’s career prior to his controversies. He was a steady actor, people recognized him, and, I’ll say it: I liked the first Shazam, all right, weird twenty one pilots needle drop and everything. But it was clear he expected to be lauded with praise and handed meaty, Oscar-worthy roles when that just wasn’t ever in his wheelhouse. It’s okay to be mediocre! Somebody’s gotta do it.

Of course, there are probably a decent amount of Trump supporters hidden in Hollywood. It’s only natural among those with money, like a really messed up preservation instinct. However, I get the feeling they really don’t want anything to do with Levi.
