The Usual Suspects Are Mad That Darth Maul Is Alive…

It really is predictable at this point. Any major franchise releases a trailer or a new show or movie and we’re subjected to a group of YouTube grifters and their bad takes. It is happening with Starfleet Academy and is happening with the new trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord.

Fans of Clone Wars are well aware of the fact that Darth Maul is alive and well after The Phantom Menace. Even though Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) cuts him in half, he still looms over the franchise until Star Wars Rebels in another face off with Kenobi.

Which makes Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord exciting! Not only is it the first series focused purely on Maul but it is a fun return for the character, who was last seen in Solo: A Star Wars Story. All this to say that fans of Star Wars and the world that George Lucas built know that Maul has been alive for a while.

In the context of Clone Wars, Maul’s brother, Savage Opress, helped to bring Maul back and save him. But out of the people who made the decision to bring Maul back to Star Wars, one of them was George Lucas himself.

So it is truly hilarious seeing a series of men online angry about Disney Star Wars pushing the narrative that Darth Maul is supposed to be dead. Especially when their lord and savior, George Lucas, is one of the people behind Maul’s return.

It is truly the most predictable thing on the planet. A new show or movie comes out in the nerdy sphere and these men log on to social media to complain about each and every one of them. But it is really fun to watch them own themselves like this. Darth Maul didn’t die in Phantom Menace and Star Wars fans know that.
