‘Target could never’: Woman lines up for a free Lowe’s bucket and finds a golden card worth $2,000 in store credit

Who doesn’t like free stuff? And, when it comes with additional surprise free stuff, there is nothing more like it. Something similar happened to a woman back in November last year when she, like several others, stood in line at a local Lowe’s outlet during Black Friday, hoping to win the grand prize. And, what’s even better? She won it. And her husband and several enthusiastic Lowe’s workers were also a testament to it.
A video by TikTok user @locolexy, which was uploaded to her account on November 28, 2025, is once again gaining traction on the platform. The result? It has now over 13 million views and thousands of comments, shares, and saves, most of whom share the same enthusiasm as the woman in the video. The others? Well, they are disheartened about not having encountered something similar.
So, what is the big deal about the video uploaded by user @locolexy?
God sure does have his favourites, and user @locolexy’s is definitely one of them. Because who would have thought that standing in the line of a Lowe’s outlet could get you a free basket and 2000 dollars in store credit? Not me and definitely not user @locolexy. In the video, captioned “POV: You wait in line for a free bucket and walk out with $2000,” user @locolexy, who is recording, can be seen being handed over a free basket from a pile and being told by a worker that there is a 1 in 6 chance of her winning the big prize. As she opens the basket and goes through the things, she finally reaches the envelope that will reveal if she has won or not. While all of this is happening, a man, possibly her partner, is sipping on a can of drink and looking hopefully at her, and so are some Lowe’s workers who are keen on finding her fate with the prize.
As user @locolexy finally opens the envelope, she finds the golden ticket peeking through and lets out a gasp of excitement, urging an enthusiastic worker to ask if she “got it.” Upon confirming, all of the workers started clapping, and there was confetti everywhere. As for the coupon, it read, “Congratulations! You are our store’s lucky winner. See the store manager to claim your free in-stock appliance, upto $2000 by 11/30.”
People are happy with user @locolexy winning big at Lowe’s
Well, while some might argue that it would have been better if she had been handed cash equal to the amount she won as store credit, think of all the things she can get with it, because Lowe’s has some pretty amazing stuff. To me, she hit the jackpot. Well, coming to the comments she received on her post, this mindset was reflected to a great extent. Most of them were directed towards her and were congratulatory in nature. A significant number of comments under her post were also about the employees who were equally excited about everything that was happening.
User @lknmami wrote, “Everyone was so excited for you how cute!!!” User @tan846341 also had something similar to say and wrote, “Was not expecting the employees ready with the confetti…congrats.” User @ ayyeitzbri wrote, “The employees are so sweet lol.” A lot of comments were also about them bashing Target, like, for example, user @unwashed.rice wrote, “Target could never,” while user @lzcie wrote, “Feel bad for everyone who waited at target instead of Lowe’s.”
What were the odds of winning the grand prize during Lowe’s Black Friday sale?
The chances of user @lknmami leaving with the big prize at Lowe’s were 1 in 50, which is 2 per cent, per store. The first 50 MyLowe’s Rewards members to be in line at 6 a.m. would all receive a free bucket, while only one of these containers would contain the $2,000 appliance voucher.
There has always been a significant amount of excitement around Black Friday Sales and sales in general. While these periods boost sales for the retailers that run them, they also foster a sense of community and give people something to celebrate. User @lknmami’s video is a great example of this, as her win is shown not just as a personal victory but as a celebration for those around her, including some who may not even have a personal relationship with her, in this case, the store workers.
