Woman asks stranger to take photo of her and her boyfriend. She can’t believe what they tell her to her face: ‘Why would she say that?’

All she wanted was a cute couple photo. You know, the kind strangers politely snap at parks and tourist spots every day. Instead, one woman says the volunteer photographer handed the phone back and delivered an unsolicited review of her appearance. No filter, no apology, just pure drive-by commentary that left the couple standing there stunned.

TikTok, however, is trying to decide whether this stranger was brutally honest, wildly rude, or… a little too unbelievable to be real.

What Did the Woman Say?

In a clip that now has 9.2 million views, influencer Spencer Barbosa (@spencer.barbosa) shares a recent encounter that left both her and her boyfriend reeling. The video itself is less than 15 seconds long, but her text overlay shares the whole story.

It reads, “Just asked a stranger to take a pic of us & she handed the camera back & said you look a little chubby… UGHHH.”

In the clip, Spencer is backing away from the camera and shakes her head while her hand covers her mouth. Beside her, her fiancè Connor smiles innocently. Spencer makes an embarrassed face and stops recording. Her caption says, “I literally smiled because I thought she said cute & then I acc died when I realized AHAHHAHA.”

The Storytime Update

In a separate TikTok, Spencer explains the situation with more context. The video itself already has 3.8 million views and over 2,000 comments. She explains that they’re on vacation and had dressed up nicely, so of course, they were going to want a photo taken.

Spencer repeats what the original TikTok said: how the girl returned the camera and called her chubby. “What the [expletive]?” she questions and then shows the picture that was taken. “I think I look [expletive] fantastic,” Spencer continues. “Like I asked you to take a photo of me, not give comments about my body, you weirdo.”

Spencer then focuses on how words have weight, and if she weren’t the confident person that she is, the woman’s comment could have really hurt her. If it were a different person, it could have ruined her day or even the following days.

“99.9% of the time, the mean things that people say to you is just a projection of themselves,” she shares.

Spencer says she hopes that the woman regretted her words after saying them. As for what she did in the moment, she says she and Connor “were too stunned to speak.”

As her caption in the first clip said, she misinterpreted it as “cute” first and then realized it was “chubby.” As the video wraps up, Spencer shows the picture again and says, “And if this is chubby… that’s sexy.” Her caption says, “Reminder to alwayssssss be kind and only say nice things!”

Viewers Say It’s Fake

One of the overwhelming responses in both videos is viewers calling the entire interaction fake. A comment with almost 2,500 likes says, “Me when i lie.” Another says, “I highly doubt that happened.” To which Spencer replies, “U had to be there.”

A third viewer says, “This can’t be real.” Spencer also replies and says, “It is unfortunate.”

Other reactions also include bewilderment. One viewer says, “No cuz actually who says that…”

“She said what now,” asks another. A third says, “Why would a woman ever say this to another woman?????”

Some have some answers for that woman. A comment with almost 150,000 likes says, “I would’ve said ‘Aww thanks, you too!’”

Another viewer says, “Plot twist : she had it on selfie mode.” Spencer responds, “Truly projection.”
