A woman puts on a t-shirt and shorts to go to Staples. She can’t believe what an older woman does because she disapproved of her outfit.

In a video with over 822,000 views, TikToker Ashtaynils (@shlayyyyy) stands near her car, shaking after the alarming situation. She stands back from the camera, showing her outfit: a slim-fit brown t-shirt and thigh-length black shorts.

“I’m walking into Staples and an old lady is behind me. In the window of the Staples, I see her swing her bag at my head,” the TikToker recounts.

She ducks and quickly turns around to confront the woman. She says the woman told her, “I would not leave my house dressed like that if I were you.”

“I said, ‘Well, good thing you’re not me. Therefore, that means you should hit me?'” she continues.

The TikToker says the woman starts “freaking out in the Staples.”

What do viewers think she should do?

In the comments, viewers urge the TikToker to report the alleged incident to the police.

“Oh I woulda called to cops AND pressed charges. I am so sorry that happened to you,” one says.

Another suggests, “Can you get security camera footage and file charges? Please report it with the store at the very least. You look great.”

Others assure the TikToker that there’s nothing wrong with her outfit and say that there’s no acceptable reason for the older woman to allegedly swing her bag at her head.

“Doesn’t matter what you’re wearing, nobody has the right to assault you,” a commenter writes.

“She’s projecting something. Your outfit is cute and you look great. I’m sorry this happened,” a second remarks.

Another adds, “What a weirdo! There is nothing wrong with your outfit!”

Can she report even if the bag didn’t hit her?

While she luckily spotted the woman’s swing before it made contact with her head, the TikToker can still report the alleged incident. If the woman attempted to harm her, even if she missed, it could be classified as “simple assault,” according to attorneys Groth & Associates.

The TikToker may not have physical injuries, but many simple assault cases also take psychological injuries into account. As the TikToker was visibly shaken in her now viral video, some commenters suggested she look into legal advice.

However, the TikToker has not responded to comments asking if she plans to report the alleged incident as of the time of publication.
