So about that Miles Morales live-action movie…

Since Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man films came to an end, people were asking about Miles Morales. When would he get his time to shine in the Marvel live-action world? With Tom Holland’s Spider-Man taking over the MCU, the question still remained and Kevin Feige has an answer.

For the promotion of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Feige spoke with journalists during a roundtable discussion which Variety attended. There, Feige was asked about where a stand-alone Miles Morales movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was at this current moment. Feige responded bluntly to where that currently is.

“That is nowhere,” he told the roundtable. “Sony has their brilliant, genius, incredible Spider-Verse animated franchise going, and until that finishes, we’ve been told to stay away.” Basically don’t hold your breath if you want to see Miles Morales in the MCU any time soon.

This news is both unsurprising and one of the more confusing parts of the Disney/Sony deal when it comes to Spider-Man. Currently, Sony still owns the rights to Spider-Man. Whenever we get a new Tom Holland movie, it is a join production between the two studios. That’s why there are connections back to the Tobey Maguire movies as well as Garfield’s.

But we also have had a reference to Miles in the live-action films. Tom Holland’s Peter meets Uncle Aaron (Donald Glover) as Spider-Man and he mentions his nephew, aka Miles. But that’s about all we got a nod to and if Disney was told to say away, the question remains: Is there going to be a live-action Miles story at any point?

We still have another Spider-Verse movie and we don’t know who the Spider-Man was in the Sonyverse, even though that is on pause currently. But until we hear anything from Sony, the news from Feige means that we probably won’t see live-action Miles Morales for a while.
