Woman says server interrupted her to tell her she’s ordering ‘too much food.’ Then she shows what she got: ‘Now I see why they were concerned’

Getting food-shamed by a server isn’t usually on the menu, but one woman’s dinner came with a very blunt side of honesty. Except… was it valid? She unfortunately learned the hard way after a Chinese restaurant employee used Google Translate to gently interrupt her long list of orders. She was embarrassed, but turns out, this wasn’t portion-shaming at all. It was foresight.

What Did the Staff Tell Her?

Acquiring 11.5 million views in just days, this clip has people all over TikTok clutching their sides in laughter. What was embarrassing for Ana (@ilostthegamee), fueled conversations about travel, restaurant etiquette, and, of course, language barriers.

In fact, the original clip has no conversation, just a popular audio saying, “OK so, you are fat. We already know that. And the problem is with the fat thing, is that you, will look totally different once you lose the weight.” The video, on the other hand, shows Ana’s face at first, with her covering her mouth with her hand. Then, the camera pans.

The next shot is of a waiter from the Chinese restaurant showing Ana his phone, open on the Google Translate app. The translation? Clear and concise: ‘Ordering too much food.’ Ana then shifts the camera to show two waiters at her table looking at her expectantly. Ana flips the camera back to her face as she covers half of it in humiliation. The clip ends.

What All Did Ana Order to Eat?

In an update many were waiting for, Ana shows all the food she ordered that prompted the waiter to intervene. First, she starts with a string bean plate. She films herself eating it, then switches to the next entree: chicken soup. It’s a rather small bowl with two pieces of chicken inside it.

Ana says, “I would not have ordered this if I thought that was what it’s gonna be.” She then cuts to a clip showing more entrees on the table, particularly a wooden basket of dumplings and a bowl of noodles. As she’s filming, another plate gets delivered to her table. Ana says, “Oh my God. There’s no way there’s more. I bought way too much food.”

Ana then films a review of sorts. About the dumplings, she says they’re good, but they taste just like Trader Joe’s chicken dumplings. As she’s tasting what are apparently black truffle dumplings, yet another plate gets served in front of her. This time, it’s fried rice.

Ana exclaims, “No way I ordered more. Oh my [expletive] God.” As she turns the camera back to herself, she says, “So, I’m fat.” The video then cuts to the last clip where she shows a dumpling and says, “Not sure what this dumpling is but we’ll see.” The text overlay then shows, “Well I forgot to film the rest so The End!”

Viewers are Amused

In the original clip, Ana’s nearly 6000 comments range from astonishment to cringeworthy. One of the top comments says, “They said ENOUGH.” Another shares, “They look so concerned.” A third says, “He wants you to lock in girl for Summer 2026.”

Others comment on the cultural differences. One viewer says, “Chinese food is typically shared. One portion is enough for 2-3 people. If you ordered like 5 dishes for yourself they probably just tryna warn you.”

Another shares a similar sentiment, “As an Asian, I immediately understood his implication: food in our culture is for sharing, sacred, and not to be wasted; eating too much is not good for health; he does not mean any criticism or discrimination.”

But mostly, people keep cracking jokes. A user says, “And he called someone else over?? Oh baby… this was an intervention.” Another says, “This would’ve been my 13th reason.”

After the Update, Viewers Say: ‘Valid.’

Ana’s update clip has 143,000 views and various comments, throwing in their two cents. After seeing everything Ana ordered, most of them are in shock. One viewer says, “When it doesn’t all fit on the table.. that’s when you know.”

Another says, “Ok Anna at first I thought they were exaggerating…..” Someone even says, “I fear they were right…”

One admits, “Thank you for this context, I was worried he was being mean. Nope. He was valid.”

One viewer even mentions everyone’s opinions, “Not everyone immediately siding with the waiters.”

To top it all off, one viewer says, “Mind you she didn’t record the rest of the food…”
