Ryan Reynolds Shares a Loving Update on His Marriage to Blake Lively Amidst Her Lawsuit Against Justin Baldoni

The rumbling It Ends With Us controversy will never end with anyone, it seems. The legal posturing and public allegations have been bad news for a lot of people, and the drama around it all has grown so unwieldy it’s affecting people who weren’t even on the film, like Ryan Reynolds.

As the husband of Blake Lively, one of the central characters in the ongoing drama stemming from the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, the Wrexham owner was always likely to be involved somewhat. However, his angry texts about Justin Baldoni, the man who his wife alleges created a hostile work environment through inappropriate comments, have landed him square in the firing line of both public opinion and the American legal system.

In addition to her hostile work claims, Lively’s team has alleged that Baldoni hired a network of shady PR teams and paid bots to organize a smear campaign against her. Not to miss out on the circus, Baldoni has been counter-suing for defamation, extortion, and anything else his lawyers can bill him for. The Jane the Virgin actor has also named Reynolds as a co-defendant in his lawsuit against Lively.

Recently Lively’s case against Baldoni hit a massive stumbling block as a number of her claims were thrown out of a federal court because she was an independent contractor and not an employee, although her retaliation complaints still stand. And in the court of public opinion, there is plenty of animosity being slung against both parties, as well as at the Canadian-American Free Guy star.

All of this has undoubtedly put a lot of stress on Lively and Reynolds, but the Deadpool actor remains steadfast in his support for his wife. Speaking on the Today show, he said “I’ve never in my life been more proud of my wife…I’ve never in my life been more proud of someone with that level of integrity that… carries that with them in everything they do.”

The trial is set to begin early next month.
