It’s Actually Really Sweet That Robin Knows Everyone’s Favorite Music on ‘Stranger Things’

Stranger Things season 5 isn’t without criticism. Many fans are pointing out moments that maybe don’t make sense or they have issue with. But one criticism doesn’t really work for me and that’s Robin’s (Maya Hawke) explanation of where Max (Sadie Sink), Holly (Nell Fisher), and Will (Noah Schnapp) are in their comas.
They’re all three unconscious and Robin realizes that if they escape, they’re return to their physical bodies. Her way of explaining that to Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) is to use their favorite albums to do so. One user on X wrote “So does Robin just know everyone’s favourite song in case of an emergency cos how tf would she know Holly’s?” And the answer is simple: Yes. It is established by the show that music can save people so why wouldn’t she try to know everyone’s favorites?
Not only does Robin work at the radio station, meaning she fields calls and requests, but she also knows everyone and their families. And Robin is the kind of person who would make sure that everyone is safe from Vecna in the only way she can help: Through music. So it isn’t really surprising that she would know Holly’s favorite song.
If anything, it could be as simple as Holly calling into the station. But I do think that Robin is the kind of person who would make sure she was prepared in case something like Max’s moment in season 4 ever happens again. Does that mean she has a running tab of everyone’s favorite song? I think so. She at least asks everyone what music they love just in case but I ultimately thing this little moment is really sweet. It shows that Robin cares.
Whether it is a simple explanation or something deeper for Robin, the moment does make sense.
