‘I’ve never noticed this before’: Woman goes to Raising Cane’s ‘thousands of times.’ Then she finally leans in to read the fine print on the menu

More often than not, we tend to overlook the fine print on a menu. Even if it’s a place we usually frequent, the words can be so tiny that it’s easy to miss. When this Texas-based woman stumbled across it on the Raising Cane’s menu, it changed the way she ordered her combos forever.

What did this woman find out?

The video features TikTok creator Victoria Lambert (@victorialambert3) sitting in her car.
“I’ve been to Cane’s a thousand times and somehow I’ve never noticed this before,” she says, referring to the tiny white sentence above the green screen of the Raising Cane’s menu. “The drive-thru line was long. I was looking at the menu, and I noticed that they had some fine print.”

Upon closer examination, she discovered something. “The fine print says that you can substitute your Texas toast, your coleslaw, or your Cane’s sauce for French fries,” she shares.

Needless to say, the content creator is baffled, especially since she typically does not eat Texas toast.

“I’ve been throwing away my Texas toast and my coleslaw for years. Meanwhile, my daughter is a French fry monster, which means I have to order a second set anyway,” she states. “I left with two orders of fries.”

As a result, Lambert has more questions than answers. “So, did everyone already know this and not say anything, or did I just unlock a Cane’s secret menu?” she asks. But the moral of the story? “Reading the fine print pays off,” she concludes.

Viewers were already aware

The video garnered over 128,000 views. Lambert’s discovery wasn’t new to most viewers, who jokingly made it abundantly clear she was out of the loop.

“Yes everyone already knew this!!” one viewer commented.

“Oh yeah Ive been getting double/triple fries for YEARS,” another remarked.

“Yes we know about this lol my location always asked me if i want to swap them. But who throws away the [toast?] That’s the best part,” a third said.

Furthermore, others revealed which items they substituted for. Apparently, most weren’t fans of coleslaw, as it was the most common swap-out.

“We sub the coleslaw all the time for more toast,” one commenter shared.

“I always get two combos and sub the slaw for an extra toast and extra fries so I end up with three fries and three pieces of toast,” a second wrote.

How to substitute sides at Raising Cane’s

According to Mashed, this is a lesser-known secret about the chicken chain. If you’re craving Cane’s but aren’t a fan of one of the sides, or you don’t know how to substitute it, it’s simple to do so. When you pull up at the drive-thru or approach the counter, place this request once you order your combo. Depending on the location, employees may beat you to it and ask in advance. In addition, this feature is also available on the app. Whether you want all your sides to be a box of fries, nothing but sauces, or extra toast,  you can customize your combo in almost any way you like. You can even replace the standard crispy chicken fingers with skin-on, which lack the breading.
