Mark Hamill’s iconic voice work as The Joker is the stuff of legend, whether you grew up with it on Batman: The Animated Series or first encountered it when Hamill read Trump’s tweets in the voice of The Joker. And so Justice League Action decided to take advantage of this iconic turn for a very meta romp.

In the short, The Joker kidnaps Mark Hamill by posing as his Uber/Lyft driver. The Joker is then joined by the Trickster, whom Hamill not only voiced in the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited animated series, but also played in cameos for both the 1990 and 2014 live-action TV series of The Flash.

The two villains plan to hold Hamill hostage for a ransom. However, Hamill outsmarts them by quite literally using his voice acting skills to escape the plot.

“You were so busy thinking of Mark Hamill as a celebrity,” says Swamp Thing at the end, “you forgot that he’s also a talented voice actor.”

The Joker arches an eyebrow. “What’s a voice actor?”

All told, it’s a ridiculous bit of fun. As he’s gotten older, Mark Hamill’s become more and more comfortable mocking himself, and I enjoyed this winking little tribute to his many DC animated universe contributions.
