Woman orders pair of Louboutins. For $1K, she didn’t expect them to come like this: ‘I’d be so mad’

A woman has gone viral after her Louboutins delivery quickly turned into a disappointment. As TikToker Ashley Pare (@luxuriash) slowly unboxed the shoes in a TikTok video, it became apparent that they weren’t up to scratch.

She stared at the bottom of the Louboutins in disbelief before showing the visibly scuffed bottoms to the camera. Accompanying on-screen text read: “Watch me realize the Louboutins I have been anxiously awaiting are dirty and already worn.”

The video was soundtracked by the viral, off-key flute rendition of the Titanic theme song and amassed a total of 1.6 million views.

What is wrong with these Louboutins?

In a follow-up TikTok, Pare shared more details about what happened next. She claims that she emailed Christian Louboutin directly, who then called her. Subsequently, she emailed them images and video footage of the shoes scratched at the bottom with hair attached to them. However, the company told her that these were the last pair in the company with that specific size. They offered a return or complimentary repair, but said that they shouldn’t offer a partial refund.

This, Pare explains, is why she “barely” buys from Louboutin, noting that their products takes a long time and requires signage. She complained that the shoes were obviously worn by someone and returned, and insisted that while she wanted to keep the shoes, she also wanted her money’s worth. “This is why I will always buy from the RealReal,” she concluded.

The Mary Sue reached out to Christian Louboutin via email.

What did commenters think?

Some commenters claimed that they had similar experience with Christian Louboutin and other retail outlets. “Same happened to me when I ordered Tabis from Louboutin,” they wrote. “They eventually took back but didn’t really rectify in any way.”

“I went to the Fendi Boutique to try some sneakers,” another shared. “They brought them out and they were used !!!! My husband was like: ‘Y’all can clearly see [these] were used?!'”

While a third added, “This happened to me with my wedding shoes!! They were disgusting and dented when I got them. I contacted ‘corporate’ and not the store I bought from and got a much better response!”

And a fourth revealed, “I once ordered a dress from Selfridges, it reeked, like someone had worn it for a night out & returned it.”

However, others were sceptical about Louboutins as a whole. “Why spend all that money for an uncomfortable shoe that falls apart after one use?” a fifth asked. “That brand really has y’all in a hold just for a red sole.”

Elsewhere, a sixth quipped, “A good day to be a person who gives a [expletive] for overpriced brands with mid clothes and shoes.”

A Redditor has a parallel experience

Three months ago, a Reddit user had a similar complaint. Speaking on the Louboutins subreddit, she shared photos of the Mary Janes she got and noted how one of the shoes had “clearly” been worn, and had scuffs and nicks in the sole, along with marks inside the shoe and on one of the edges.

“I paid full price for these babies, and I now want to return them,” they wrote. “Because if they’re going to get scuffed (which they are if I choose to put no protectors on there), I should be the one to break them in. Am I being crazy?”

For the most part, other Redditors backed them up, with one saying, “OP, never settle. You paid full price so you should get the full new ride. Don’t feel bad about returning as the person that sent those back couldn’t have felt even a once of shame.”

What did Pare say?

In an email Q&A with The Mary Sue, Pare reiterated that she didn’t take up Christian Louboutin’s offer to return the shoes or send them for complimentary cleaning because she bought them specifically for an event. “I ended up keeping the shoes because I really did love them- I was just upset that they came in already worn and damaged when I paid full price for a brand new pair,” she said.

Pare then went on to explain that she decided to make the video because she had gone viral for her Louboutin opinions in the past, and that a lot of viewers were “making fun” of her because she thrifts her Louboutins from places like TheRealReal.

“I bought straight from Louboutin so that I could prove to my followers that they can still get brand new, authentic, good quality shoes for half the price on a reseller site instead of buying straight from a Louboutin boutique or website,” she said. “Which proved my point!”

In terms of viewer reception and takeaways, Pare added: “On this video, people have been expressing that they have had the same experience with Louboutin or they’re arguing in my comments about the quality or price point of the shoe- which is honestly better than all of the hate comments I was getting on my other viral video about Louboutins. I want viewers to take away that it doesn’t matter where you get your Louboutins or how you wear them! But I also want people to be aware of getting what they paid for and advocating for themselves. When you are paying the luxury price; you expect luxury.”
