Karoline Leavitt’s relative arrested by ICE calls her a bad ‘catholic’ for separating families

Members of the Trump administration are not particularly known for their commitment to “leading by example.” However, there are certain situations where they might make exceptions.

Just a few days ago, news broke that the mother of Karoline Leavitt’s nephew was apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. At that moment, due to insufficient information, many people speculated that this incident was a result of Leavitt’s bad karma for aligning herself with the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Others shared their own theories about the circumstances of the event and its potential outcomes. While some thought that Leavitt would use her connections to help her relative escape from ICE, others suspected that she might have been the one to notify the authorities.

As of now, Bruna-Caroline Ferreira has been released from ICE custody, but she is now facing the threat of deportation and has been labelled an “illegal alien” despite having lived in the United States since she was just six years old and being a law-abiding citizen. On December 13, 2025, she gave an interview to CNN, where she expressed her disappointment regarding the situation, including her grievances with her alleged family members who, despite being in similar situations, did nothing to prevent the crisis. During her Saturday appearance, Ferreira was asked to comment on Karoline Leavitt, especially since her story had gained traction among the public due to their connection. With a hint of sarcasm, Ferreira stated that she would like to tell Karoline that just because she attended a Catholic school, it doesn’t make her a Catholic, suggesting that being Catholic is about practice, not just theory. She continued to express that Karoline is also a mother now and that she wouldn’t feel comfortable if she were in her position, being separated from her child, saying that she couldn’t “wrap” her mind around it and hoped there was a “logical explanation” behind it. Ferreira continued her rant against Karoline Leavitt and the administration she represents by saying:

I’m trying to understand and have faith that there’s some logical explanation behind any of this, but there isn’t. I’m not the first. I’m surely not going to be the last. There are thousands of women and families, and children being separated daily. Where does it end? When does it stop?”

Bruna-Caroline Ferreira’s strict criticism of Karoline Leavitt has garnered significant attention on social media, as users feel compelled to call Leavitt out for her actions. While some people on these platforms share Ferreira’s exact sentiments, others have additional insights.
