‘Is anybody worried about their health??’: Woman has warning for anyone partaking in viral Biscoff trend

Recently, a new dessert has been taking the internet by storm.
Spend a little time on TikTok, and you’re likely to see someone posting their reaction to the “Japanese Cheesecake.” This is a simple, two-ingredient recipe that, per Food & Wine, involves sticking a bunch of Biscoff cookies into a high-protein yogurt, such as Greek yogurt or Skyr.
Of course, this isn’t technically Japanese. Lotus Biscoff originated in Belgium, and the dairy products used trace their origins to either Greece or Iceland.
However, given its similarity to viral, two-ingredient recipes coming out of Japan using sablé cookies, it’s no surprise that these simple creations have been given the moniker of “Japanese Cheesecake”—even if there’s technically no cheese involved.
But should amateur dessert-makers be wary of this dessert? One user on TikTok seems to think so—and her reaction has the internet talking.
What’s Wrong With The Viral Japanese Cheesecake?
In a video with over 1.2 million views, TikToker Cassidy (@cassidytalks) expresses her concern about the growing Japanese Cheesecake trend.
“I just wanna say, if you’re part of the people that’s eating that tub of cheesecake with Biscoff cookies and strawberry jam, you’re gonna collapse in the next five years,” she says in her video.
In the caption, she reiterates her concern.
“Is anybody worried about their health??” she asks in the caption.
Is This Viral Recipe Really That Unhealthy?
As with any recipe, the nutritional information depends on what ingredients one chooses to use and how much of each ingredient one decides to add.
Generally speaking, the viral “cheesecake” is made by sticking Biscoff cookies into Greek yogurt—then, if desired, topping it off with a fruit jam.
One of the most popular videos on the topic shows a user sticking 13 Biscoff cookies into a 24-ounce tub of Siggi’s Skyr.
For context, a single Biscoff cookie has approximately 38 calories. All 13 Biscoff cookies together have a total caloric value of about 494 calories.
The 24-ounce tub of Siggi’s Skyr has about 400 calories. Add that to the aforementioned Biscoff cookies, and you have a dessert that, in total, is almost 900 calories with around 20 grams of fat, about 83 grams of protein, and approximately 60 grams of sugar. If one chooses to add jam, the calorie count and sugar content can increase significantly.
How Bad Is This Dessert?
That said, one should not be dissuaded from making this dessert based solely on the previously-mentioned nutritional information.
As stated above, this is the nutritional content for an entire tub of Skyr mixed with 13 Biscoff cookies. If one were to eat a smaller portion—for example, a quarter of the tub, cookies included- they would be consuming just 224 calories, with 5 grams of fat, 20 grams of protein, and 15 grams of sugar.
Seeing as a slice of cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory can easily reach over 800 calories, one may be able to better incorporate a reasonable portion of this “Japanese Cheesecake” into their everyday meal plans.
Nutritionists agree with this assessment—though they note that, like all foods, this recipe should be eaten in moderation.

Commenters Are Divided
In the comments section, users weren’t sure what to make of this viral cheesecake.
Some believed that those who make and eat the cheesecake are being overly indulgent.
“People forgetting it’s not actually cheesecake…it’s literally eating a whole tub of cream cheese,” wrote a user. This mischaracterizes the typical recipe, which employs high-protein yogurt.
“They don’t realize how much yogurt calories add up, especially when u put cookies into it. I mean cheesecake in general has a lot of calories,” added another.
However, others countered that, in moderation, the dessert was likely fine.
“Who’s eating it in one sitting? Yall don’t do this over ice cream,” reads one highly-favorited comment.
“I’m not eating the whole tub in one day girl,” echoed another. “Day by day.”
