‘It basically just looks like a little bump’: Woman goes through childbirth, makes unusual discovery about her mamilla

It is considered normal for the female body to undergo certain structural and functional changes after childbirth. However, Jasmine Mamiya was taken aback by what she went through after giving birth to her second child.

In a rare instance, Jasmine Mamiya developed a third breast in her armpit after her delivery. While she was aware of the swelling in that area and the potential for breast tissue to develop in certain situations, she did not expect it to manifest on her skin the way it did. Mamiya recounted her experience in a TikTok video she shared on her account @jasminemia.irl.

Jasmine Mamiya debunks the mystery of a third breast

In a video she posted on her TikTok account on January 21, 2026, Jasmine Mamiya discussed the bodily changes she experienced after giving birth. She noted that when she and her lactation consultant talked, she mentioned the possibility of extra breast tissue, and that Mamiya revealed that she likely had it due to some extra fat in her armpits that hadn’t disappeared.

As a side note, Mamiya mentioned that the excess skin on her armpits also darkened, just like her nipples and areolae did during her pregnancy. She continued to narrate her experience with the lactation consultant, who showed interest in examining the area where her third breast had formed and pointed out that the mass had also developed a nipple. Mamiya highlighted that this discovery was not a “cute” experience for her, as she had previously assumed the protruding part from her armpit to be a skin tag. Mamiya added, “You know how cows and puppies and kittens, they have that line of nipples? Yeah, humans have that too.”

Mamiya continued her narration, sharing that her lactation consultant told her about a case where a woman had an extra nipple on her thigh. She then humorously added, “Telling me that I have an extra nipple on my armpit before I even had my first postpartum poop is diabolical work,” noting that she had only managed to sleep for 3 hours in the two days leading up to receiving this news.

The video she posted on TikTok on January 20, 2026, has received more than 5 million views. Noticing the curiosity surrounding her third breast, Jasmine Mamiya shared another video where she talked about the huge response to her last video, emphasising that many people were interested in seeing her third boob. While she was willing to show her third breast, she jokingly mentioned that there were some conditions she wanted to set first. “You’re not even gonna buy me dinner first or anything, you just wanna see my underarm boob? That’s crazy, but I’ll show you,” she said as she tried to lift her shirt to reveal what everyone was so curious about.

As she exposed the bulge, she exclaimed how strange it was that she could not show her real breast but could show her armpit boob. She then went on to answer a few questions related to her new body part, including whether milk would come out of her third breast. Mamiya said she didn’t know if that was a possibility and also revealed that she was unwilling to test it because she didn’t want to accidentally facilitate milk production.

She also highlighted that her third breast sometimes hurts while noting that there are few options to consider when deciding how to deal with the flesh. Mamiya stated that her only option was to surgically remove it once she was done having all her kids. Mamiya also added that growing a third boob is the least hectic experience compared to the challenges faced during pre- and post-pregnancy, as there are far more complicated issues that could arise during those times.

How common is it to develop additional breast tissue?

According to Franciscan Health, developing an accessory breast tissue is more normal than people would anticipate. Constanze Rayhrer, MD, notes that the condition affects about 5 per cent of women (one out of 20) and a small proportion of men, both of whom can find the tissue developing anywhere from the armpit to the groin, which coincides with the body’s milk line.

Rayhrer also highlights that this breast tissue may become more prominent when the body goes through hormonal changes. For instance, in women, it could appear as a bulge during pregnancy. Additionally, he states that the breast tissue is capable of milk production and is prone to cancer development, making it completely similar to normal breast tissues.
