In a rare twist, a Republican and a Democrat are teaming up to impeach Pam Bondi over her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case

Republican Thomas Massie and Democrat Ro Khanna are planning on bringing “inherent contempt” charges against the United States Department of Justice head, Pam Bondi, for her failure to maintain transparency in the Jeffrey Epstein case. The United States Representatives made this announcement while appearing on a news programme for CBS on December 21, 2025.
The deadline for the Department of Justice to release the full Jeffrey Epstein Files, with necessary redactions, was last Friday. However, despite the deadline having passed, the department has yet to disclose the complete contents of these controversial files, as argued by key figures such as Thomas Massie, the U.S. representative for Kentucky’s 4th congressional district, and Ro Khanna, the U.S. representative from California’s 17th congressional district.
On Sunday’s episode of ‘Face the Nation’ on CBS, Massie and Khanna were asked several questions regarding the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, including their expectations for the future and the actions they would take if they suspected any foul play. They both concurred that the DOJ and Pam Bondi seemed to be protecting the identities of several powerful individuals by potentially redacting their names from the documents or not releasing other details that might mention them.
As a result, both Massie and Khanna agreed to pursue necessary actions against the Department of Justice for “flouting the spirit and the letter of law.” While they expressed their optimism about the DOJ releasing the full files ahead of the event, they also shared their disappointment with the information they received, stating that it was not enough to bring justice to the many women who had been exploited and abused by Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and other influential figures such as them. Representative Massie specifically mentioned collaborating with Khanna to draft the documents for bringing contempt charges against Bondi. He said:
“The quickest way, and I think uh most expeditious way to get justice for these victims is to bring inherent contempt against Pam Bondi. And that doesn’t require going through the courts and give her you and basically Ro Khanna, and I are talking about and drafting that right now.”
Following this, Khanna also spoke about the possibility of impeaching Pam Bondi due to her lack of action in the Epstein case when asked for his comments, stating that he and Massie were working on forming a “bipartisan coalition” in the House that would “fine Pam Bondi for every day she does not release these documents.”
