‘He’s sleeping on the couch’ memes take over the internet as Usha Vance is seen without her wedding ring at recent event

After videos of Erika Kirk awkwardly hugging JD Vance and suggesting he could replace her husband, Charlie Kirk, during a Turning Point event surfaced a few weeks ago, numerous theories about JD’s marriage with his wife, Usha Vance, began to circulate. Many believed that JD and Usha’s marriage had run its course. Others thought that JD was trying to replace Usha with Erika, as the latter fits better into the white Christian narrative that he and MAGA support.

On November 19, Usha Vance, the Second Lady of the United States, visited Camp Lejeune in North Carolina with First Lady Melania Trump and set the rumour mills abuzz after being spotted without a specific jewellery item. As Usha addressed the audience from the podium, videos of the event made their way to social media, and people noticed that she was not wearing her wedding ring. Many wondered if this incident signalled the end of the holy matrimony between JD Vance and Usha Vance. Some joked that JD was sleeping on the couch because Usha could no longer stand to be with him, while others suggested that Erika Kirk might soon take her place. One person on X (formerly Twitter) wrote:

“Usha Vance ditching the ring while posing with Melania screams “I’m just here for the photo op, not the marriage.”

Another person wrote:

“Ever since JD Vance dissed his wife’s religion and intimately cuddled Erica Kirk on stage, (it) is fair to say he has been sleeping on the couch at home. Wife spotted with no wedding ring and joyful.”

Many others echoed similar opinions. Nevertheless, after the internet exploded with theories about JD and Usha’s marriage due to her missing wedding ring, a spokesperson for Usha defended her, saying she was “doing a lot of dishes, giving lots of baths, and sometimes forgetting her ring,” seemingly confirming that there was no trouble in paradise.
