Louisiana woman receives Raising Cane’s order from DoorDash. Then she learns the driver is responsible for making the drink

A DoorDash driver has sparked debate on TikTok after sharing what happened with a recent Raising Cane’s order he delivered.
In the clip, which has amassed 2,285 views, TikTok user Mike (@stuntmanmike318) began by explaining how he recently picked up an order from Raising Cane’s, which included one drink and one combo. After making the drink (a sweet tea) and collecting the food, he ended up slipping on ice cubes on the floor. This led to a small amount of tea spilling out of the cup. He closed the cup and then delivered as normal.
However, he then got a DoorDash call that put him in touch with the customer, who wanted to know what had happened with the drink. Concerned she was implying that he drank it, Mike says he told her that he doesn’t drink tea. However, after she “pressures” him, he admits he fell over and a bit split out. While the customer said she was just curious, Mike remarked that the situation felt “really petty.”

What did commenters think?
Fellow DoorDashers flocked to the comments—and were largely on the TikToker’s side. “It’s a shame people can be so petty and lie sometimes,” one wrote. “We’re using our own vehicles and gas. We risk a lot and waste a lot.”
“I refuse to make the drinks that’s not my job,” a second added. “I don’t have a food handlers card, I don’t get paid for that!”
“Dude, I DoorDash too and you can’t please everybody,” a third pointed out. “[You] probably didn’t give you a big tip anyway down here in Lafayette. It’s getting worse and worse. They double up every order and then I’ll pay s**t lucky I’m retired. I wouldn’t be doing this.”
However, others argued that the driver could have topped up the drink. “Why not go top the drink off?” a fourth asked. “There are tea stations out at Raising Canes.”
While a fifth argued, “It wasn’t petty; when you slipped and a little came out. You should have slipped your way back through the door and filled it. That’s your job.”
In a follow-up video, Mike emphasized that it was only an inch and a half that was missing.
A Redditor had a similar issue
Over on Reddit, a similar issue happened to a fellow DoorDash driver. In the post, which was posted to the r/DoorDash subreddit, the user shared a screenshot of the direct message exchange they had with the customer.
“Cuh you drunk my s**t?” the customer asked. “It’s not even in the drop-off pic and it’s low.” Then, after being called a “hoe” by the customer, the driver replied: “I forgot it in my car and no I didn’t drink your drink.”
The Redditor shared some more context in the discussion thread, explaining that they never fill drinks all the way through to avoid leakage, and that they initially forgot the drink in their car.
As one Reddit user in the thread pointed out, “With all the reports of drivers stealing food, its not surprising that customers think that first.”
